Alberta's Gord Bamford was the big winner at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards in Edmonton, with the ballad "Leaning on a Lonesome Song." He won Single of the Year and CMT Video of the Year. Bamford wrote the song for his brother, who died after struggles with addiction and depression. He said he had heard from fans who told him the song helped turn their lives around. (Bamford's CD "Is It Friday Yet?" won Album of the Year.)
